Join M A Mission UK for an exciting bike ride touring three of our North West Institutes/Masajid. The route will take you through the lovely Lancashire countryside and quaint historical villages. Your journey will start from Bolton, then up to Preston, across to Blackburn and then back down to Bolton. If you wish to ride only part of the course please indicate on the form and we’ll make arrangements accordingly.

You will be riding with like-minded brothers who will not only support you all the way but will also be there to push, challenge and inspire you.  The funds you raise will greatly help each Institution to continue their religious and communal work during these tough times – Jazakumullah Khayr!

The Cause

‘Mohaddis-e-Azam Mission’ is a distinguished and well established worldwide organisation named after one of the great Sufi Scholars and Saints of recent times, Mohaddis-e-Azam Hind (Allama Pir Syed Shah Muhammad Abul Muhamid Ashrafi al-Jilani, born 1894 CE). Formed and initiated in the latter part of the 20th century by Mohaddis-e-Azam’s son and appointed spiritual successor, the world-renowned Imam-e-Humam ‘Huzur Shaykhul Islam’ Syed Mohammad Madni Ashrafi al-Jilani. Who has blessed us by visiting the U.K. regularly since the early 1970’s.

With several branches in the UK, M A Mission UK offers an opportunity to work together to build a better community. We hold regular events and gatherings inviting renowned speakers from all over the world. We work together with fellow community members in order to raise awareness on the key issues which affect us all. Most of our centres have a contemporary Madrasah for children and they also offer courses for all.


We are asking for a minimum pledge to raise £150 (recommended target £500) excluding any gift aid and £25 which will go towards the expenses for the challenge. Set yourself a realistic fundraising target that you can achieve. It’s brilliant if you hit the minimum requirement of £150 because you can always increase it at a later date.   • If you are a STRAVA user, join our cycle club MAMission CC.
  • STRAVA is an activity app that we use to track and record all our cycle rides. It’s a great way to see your progress, follow others and to keep an eye on all the activities run by MAMission cycle club.
  • You can download it free from the App store and Google Play.
  • Once you have a STRAVA account go to com/clubs/mamissioncc where you can join our club.

Tell everyone about your challenge

Try and utilise all the tools you have at your disposal. Don’t feel shy to ask one of the Tour de Mission team for help, that’s why we are here. Remember pace yourself with your fundraising and try not to bombard everyone with your challenge. But set yourself a realistic plan to engage with your friends and family. Please do not bombard your contacts with messages every day but use your activities such as your training days to remind your friends and family about your challenge.

  • Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are a great start.
  • Start with close family and friends with small pledges.
  • Use email to send your colleagues and contacts details of your challenge.
  • Do a WhatsApp broadcast with your fundraising link.
  • Ask your workplace if they will match your donation.
  • Speak to your local mosque or community group to see if they can help.
  • Don’t forget to keep your donors updated.
  • Make sure you thank them for their kind donations.

The Route

We will set-off from our Bolton branch and start travelling north towards Belmont. There we will see some amazing views of the English countryside. The 41-mile journey has been broken up into 3 segments to ease everyone into the ride and finishing off with a meal at Bolton Mission. If you wish to ride only part of the course please indicate on the form and we’ll make arrangements accordingly.

Closer to the ride we will share the detailed routes so you can upload them onto your phones and Garmin devices.

Be positive and make a change

Why not use this opportunity to make good life choices like a new healthy diet and of course regular exercise on the bike? Even if you are ‘fit as a fiddle’ cycling can be demanding on your muscles so please attend all the upcoming training sessions to make sure you are at your prime fitness level for this challenge. Don’t worry if you have not been on a bike for a while because this challenge is open to all levels of riders. On the day you will be allocated a team that fits in with your ability and pace.

We will have several support vehicles that will carry all your food and necessary items. In case of injury, fatigue or breakdown our support volunteers will assist you. We will also have qualified first aiders should a situation arise but most of the time its cramps, punctures or water in your shoes.

Ride Day

  • Participants from Blackburn and Preston will be picked up from their local Missions by the support vehicle or you may make your own way to Bolton Mission.
  • Part course: Arrangements will be made accordingly
  • Plenty of parking around Bolton Mission if needed
  • End Time: We’ll be back at Bolton Mission around 3pm

Arrive early so you can do last minute checks of your bike as well as get to know your teammates and your team leader. We will have 2 stops at our designated break points (Preston & Blackburn Mission) where you can fuel up again and take those essential selfies. Please remember if you do not have a helmet you will not be able to cycle with us. So make sure you pack your essentials the night before. Make sure you stop training at least a day before the challenge to enable your muscles to recuperate as this will reduce injury and cramps.

What sort of bike do I need?

Preferably you will have a road bike which has a smaller frame and thinner tires enabling more agility and speed. You can complete the challenge on a mountain bike but you will be doing a lot more work to keep up with the team.

What if I don’t hit my fundraising target?

We are here to support you. Get in touch ASAP if you are struggling and we will give you more hints and tips.

How will I get back?

We have transport arranged for you and your bike.

What food should I bring?

Food will be provided but you may bring your own snacks if you wish. Your food should be light and compact as well as high in energy. We will send you more details closer to the time but it’s mostly sandwiches and energy bars/gels.

What time will we be back?

We have an estimated time of 3pm by the time we come back to Bolton Mission. 

What about Zuhr prayers?

In ‘sha ‘Allah – we will pray together once we’ve completed the bike ride.

What about social distancing when cycling?

We will give you more information closer to the event as per government advice. It’s very likely that cyclists will be riding behind each other and not side by side.

Please only bring a small rucksack. Your bag will be carried in the support vehicles and will be available to you at each breakpoint. Please also carry your essential bike items such as lights, pump, inner tubes, and tool kit.
